Shop Lichen Wiggle Woodfired Vase

Lichen Wiggle Woodfired Vase

$65.00

Measures 6.5in tall x 1in wide x 4.25in long, and holds 175 ml.

This wiggly, woodfired vase stands out because it was fired on its side, and 3 seashells melted themselves onto one of its faces. The opposing wide face has a tan wiggle where the wadding was placed to hold the vase off of the kiln shelf, so it wouldn’t get glued down with ash glaze in the firing. A piece above this vase dripped glaze and it landed close to the rim, sprinkling dainty glaze crystals in a licheny pattern on this special vase.

Wood fired pieces are non-repeatable because it is impossible to predict how ash glaze will land on a piece inside of a kiln. This vase was fired for nearly 4 days inside of a large anagama-style wood kiln in late April 2024 by myself and many others.
